Position:                    Service Provider In-Charge (2 Posts) 

Duty Station:            Iganga and Arua

Reports to:                Medical Coordinator

Job Role

Provide and manage Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) services at RHU outlets in accordance with M.O.H and international guidelines. SRH service provision includes counseling;  providing different SRHR services such as, Youth Friendly SRH services, offering short and long  term as well as permanent methods of family planning; management of STIs, screening for cancer of the cervix, management of infertility, HIV counseling and testing; diagnosis of related conditions, such as, malaria, UTI/RTI, , etc. These integrated services are offered at the static clinic, through outreaches, and by Community Based Agents.  Management includes the training and supervision of branch staff, the administration and organisation of branch and field activities, and the oversight of branch assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage clinic, outreach and community SRH service delivery units so as to attain and maintain national and international quality standards
  2. Co-ordinate and monitor programme and project implementation at the RHU branch to ensure attainment of planned results.
  3. Provide SRH services to clients at all service delivery units as per RHU’s SRH package.
  4. Provide technical training, guidance and mentoring to staff and community agents to standardize and improve their performance
  5. Initiate and develop programme activities that address branch SRH needs in a gender and youth focused manner
  6. Develop and maintain networks with organizations at district level for purposes of partnership, advocacy, resource sharing and cost saving
  7. Coordinate and support RHU Volunteer Members’ activities in the branch
  8. Maintain valid and up to date finance and program documents regarding RHU branch activities, including the preparation and dispatch of timely, accurate and complete  reports
  9. Work closely with government structures e.g. VHTs and advocate for inclusion of RHU activities into district work plans and access to district health resources
  10. Perform any professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, skills and temperament

Thorough knowledge as well as skill in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services. Skill in offering related training, quality of care, supervision; communication, including documentation, report writing and feedback.  Demonstrated effective leadership, administration and motivation skills, ability to organize and capacity to multi-task and deliver accurate and comprehensive results in an efficient and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, and under pressure with minimum supervision, and willingness to build, coach, guide task oriented teams.

Training and experience

Diploma in Clinical Medicine from an accredited institution, with a valid practicing license and registration certificate with at least five years’ experience in Reproductive Health service delivery, including counselling, providing long term family planning and Youth Friendly Services, etc., as well as proven experience in project  management.  Individuals with previous NGO experience will have an added advantage.

 

Position:                    Service Provider (1 Post)

 Duty Station:            Mbale                                         

Reports to:                Service Provider In-Charge

 Job Role

Provide Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) services to all clients according to Ministry of Health (MOH) and RHU guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Inform, educate, and communicate with clients, to motivate and enable them make informed SRHR choices
  2. Provide quality integrated SRHR services to clients at all delivery points as per RHU’s SRHR service package
  3. Provide maternity services, including ANC, safe delivery and referral
  4. Collect and maintain complete and accurate records of clients according to RHU/MOH guidelines
  5. Review and utilize data to improve service delivery at health facilities
  6. Perform any professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, skills and temperament

Thorough knowledge and skill in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights services, that include maternity services, delivery of long term and permanent methods of contraception, STI management, etc. Able to provide sonography services. Demonstrated willingness and capacity to address youth sexuality and reproductive issues; ability to produce and submit quality reports within set deadlines, and to generate and maintain accurate records; competence in managing common minor illnesses. Ability to work effectively under pressure, and with minimum supervision.  Skill in training and mentorship

 Training and experience

Registered Midwife or Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognised institution with a valid Practicing License and registration certificate. Two years’ experience in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services. Individuals with previous NGO experience and experience, while offering family planning and maternity services will have an added advantage.

 

Position:                    Laboratory Technician (1 Post)

Duty Station:            Tororo

Reports to:                Service Provider In-Charge

Job Role:                    Provide Laboratory services at RHU service delivery points to support clinical diagnosis & care

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Process specimens, help diagnose conditions and produce quality and timely laboratory results
  2. Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents in accordance with laboratory standards
  3. Refer clients/specimens to relevant partner agencies as necessary
  4. Maintain equipment and an adequate stock of laboratory reagents
  5. Provide technical guidance on how laboratory services could be improved
  6. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, skills and temperament

Thorough knowledge and skills in laboratory service provision. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task; demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, and willingness to coach and build technically competent teams.

Training and experience

Must possess, as a minimum, a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution with a valid Practicing License and registration certificate.  Experience in providing a wide range of laboratory services for different conditions for at least two years.  Previous NGO experience will be an added advantage.

 

Position:                    Front Desk Assistant (1 Post)

Duty Station:            Head Office, Kampala

Reports to:                Administrative Officer

Job Role:                    Act as the initial face of the organisation: Management of the reception, maintain telephone records, process documents and messages and offer general communication services

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate RHU’s telephone exchange, including handling all incoming and outgoing calls in a professional manner including routing them to appropriate locations
  • Offer customer care to visitors to the main RHU office, and relaying these visitors to appropriate destinations, in addition to maintaining records of such visits.
  • Maintain a tracking system for all incoming & outgoing mail and courier items for the office
  • Follow procedures that secure and document the security of any valuables.
  • Ensure that relevant notices are appropriately displayed on notice boardsin an orderly manner and regularly updated.
  • Monitor and ensure that the reception/ front and rear entrances of the RHU main building are kept clean, neat and tidy.
  • Ensure that RHU’s telephone equipment and lines are in good working order to ensure professional and seamless communications at the different levels
  • Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and temperament:

  • Knowledge about SRHR
  • Consistent, professional dress code and good telephone manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good time management skills, memory and recall, multitasking and visitor support.
  • Experience with administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Able to contribute positively as part of a team, assisting with different tasks, as required.
  • Positive enthusiasm, confidence, integrity, tact, discretion and diplomacy.

Training and Work Experience

Applicants should possess a good bachelor’s degree in office management, Secretarial Studies, or a related field. Prior experience as a receptionist, including prior NGO exposure will be an added advantage.

 

 

Position:                    Driver (3 Posts)

Duty Station:            Mbale, Fortportal and Lira

Reports to:                Service Provider In-Charge

Job Role

Drive, deliver messages and maintain Association’s vehicles in line with RHU policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Drive RHU vehicles/authorised passengers to specified destinations as approved by the Supervisor in line with RHU vehicle use and management policy
  2. Deliver packages, goods and mails and any other information to specified people, places and offices
  3. Maintain Association’s vehicles in proper running conditions-by conducting physical inspection/check of vehicle status/condition, e.g engine oil, water, nuts, battery water, license, third party insurance, brakes, and tyre pressure prior to any journey
  4. Monitor the security of vehicle, authorized passengers and luggage
  5. Report all major and minor damages and accidents on the vehicle at hand, to the supervisor using relevant documentation/forms in accordance to RHU vehicle use and management policy
  6. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and temperament:

  • Interpret and follow traffic signs and regulations
  • Keep record of motor vehicle movement
  • Follow approved work schedule
  • Monitor and report in time, expiry of motor vehicle road license and third party insurance
  • Take security precautions
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and able to drive long distance
  • Good oral and written communication skills with ability to speak and write English
  • Basic routine maintenance and vehicle handling skills

Training and experience

  • At least Ordinary Level Certificate with at least 2 principle passes
  • Possession of two or more Classes of driving permit is preferred
  • A certificate in defensive driving from an established driving school/firm is an added advantage
  • Experience in driving, with clean driving record of not less than 3 years, preferably with a Non-Government Organization (NGO)
