About the Project:

Right Here Right Now Uganda is a 5 year strategic partnership of 14 civil society organizations dedicated to creating a favourable environment for the Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights of all young people in Uganda.  

With an overall goal to promote key values including but not limited to; Transparency and Accountability, inclusivity and non-discrimination, Integrity, Meaningful Youth Participation, and Rights-based approach to information and services for the beneficiaries.  

Such a progressive and inclusive collaboration of CSOs in national SRHR advocacy partnerships/platforms instrumental to strengthen advocacy for SRHR services and information.

Project Goal & Objectives:

The goal of the project is to implement an inclusive and progressive SRHR national legislation, policies and budget to improve accountability for regional norms, standards and policies. 

With specific objectives; 

  • By 2020, the Draft School Health Policy is reviewed, approved and implemented. 
  • By 2020, an inclusive SRH Guideline and Adolescent Health Policy/strategy is reviewed and implemented. 
  • By 2020, the Standards and Guidelines for reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity due to unsafe abortion (S&Gs) in Uganda are reinstated and implemented.  
  • By 2020, Uganda implements the African Commission resolution 275 on violence and human rights violations against persons based on their imputed or real sexual orientation or Gender Identity

RHRN Uganda targets Youth 10 – 24 years old, Sexual Minorities, Young People Living with HIV/AIDS and Young Girls and women, Policy makers, other CSOs and coalitions, government ministries, agencies and departments. 

A favourable environment for the Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights of all young people in Uganda.

  • Involving young people to meaningfully engage at the regional and international advocacy spaces have been strengthened.  
  • Advocacy on the various policies have yielded results due to the adoption of a more collaborative approach which does not harden the position of those targeted to influence. 
  • Consultation with religious leaders will inculcate a spirit of ownership for policies passed in order to avoid them being recalled or disowned. 
  • We will promote the creation of new partnerships with other stakeholders to expand the voices demanding for change 
  • Expand the scope of advocacy to include more efforts in galvanising public support so that political leaders can take more actions.
